Pizza-making...

Michael likes pizza. He hates "German pizza"- which, admittedly, simply cannot compare to good New York pizza... (Yes, the quotes are necessary) here, the dough is either super thin and flavorless (think pita crossed with flour tortilla), or it's "foamy" and a little sweet... (something out of a Pilsbury tube)...in any case, Mike decided to buy some yeast and make dough. After the first few packages of yeast rotted in the refrigerator door (and trust me, that is NOT a pleasant smell), he started making dough.... it just kept coming... batch after batch of dough... He even roped Rowan into it...

Ice-skating... yes, I know it's summer...

OK, so I am a little behind on my posts... only about 7 months... The attached photo was taken in Wiesbaden at the outdoor ice-rink... it was really cold and really crowded... the very next weekend my friend Liz broke her leg really badly at this rink when a sumo-sized 10 year old racing around the rink knocked her clean off her feet. Rowan just mentioned yesterday that he hopes we can go again this year... As long as I'm watching out for sumo-speed-racers, I guess we could give it another go....

Murder-mystery dinners...

I've always wanted to hold a murder-mystery dinner. Until recently, I'd never actually attended one... now, I must admit, I'm not sure the pre-packaged route is for me... Kudos to the Beadman-Lakey's for hosting one- it was a fun evening when we weren't reading lines from our little books... It was set in India during the independance movement (30's...Swaraj?)...Mr. Beadman was brilliant & Claire's sister Helen was perfect... Rowan was a good sport once we got moving along... "That is very bad for your instant Kharma!!" was his only refrain all evening... He really did not want to have his picture taken, so if you look just to the left of me in the picture, you will see Rowan in full "Indian" regalia...
